Ibadan Polytechnic Management engages Amotekun to curb cultism on campus

 The Polytechnic, Ibadan, management of the institution has engaged the service of Western Nigerian Security Network (WNSN) code name ‘Amotekun’ to strengthen security in the institution.
Penpushing reports that the institution move followed reoccurrence case of cult gang clash, shooting and mayhem within the campus, an incident which has led to closure of the institution for a week,while it is recalled no fewer than three students were reportedly affected in a gun battle that occurred three weeks ago at the north campus of the institution.
Penpushing further reports that one of the student leaders in the institution, Kehinde Ayanboade explained that the Rector of the institution, Professor Kazeem Adebiyi  held a meeting with student leaders across all levels to brief them on the new security framework of the institution which he said would be a lasting solution to the security challenges.
The Amotekun operatives since their involvement had started thorough stop and search for every students and vehicles entering the campus,and also involves in strategic patrol of all the  identified abodes of suspected criminals.
Penpushing also reports that the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS), and the Students Union Government (SUG) of the institution had earlier chide the management over insecurity posed by activities of cultists which has ravaged the school campus, saying that it was disheartening that management of the institution cannot provide adequate security for students in the school which has started giving the institution a bad name.
