 “Citizens have become cynical of government and trust which is an essential element of the social contract between the government and the people has been badly impaired. Indeed, the wide gap between the potentials and realities on ground showed that there is a missing factor in catalyst and an enabler. I have no doubt that the missing link is good governance”

“The tasks ahead are daunting, the challenges are many, the resources are limited, yet, I am confident that once we have the most important currency in our people’s bank, which is the trust of our people, we will be okay”.

“We will be accountable, we will be transparent, we will be responsive, we will be equitable and inclusive, we will be effective and efficient, we will follow the rule of law and we will be participatory”,Abiodun said

‘These are non – negotiable principles that will underpin government operations and our definition of good governance”. Let me assure you that we will careful study and stick to today’s conversations and synergize them with other suggestions such as that of the workgroups’ reports”.

Penpushing further reports that, the Guest Speaker, Prof  Pat Utom on the theme,’ Good Governance and Public Administration’,  described mental health challenge of the youths as the biggest challenge confronting the country as present, together with increased poverty level, which he said political leaders had failed to tackle with all the seriousness it deserves.

He added, “If we reflect for a minute, we will discover that poverty is killing us in this country. How do we move forward in this kind of challenges, how do we govern in a time like this”

The Professor of Political Economy and Management Expert also advised the Governor-Elect to provide quality medication, health care and constant training and retraining of civil servants.

Penpushing also reports that, the Chairman of the occasion, Fola Adeola advised the Abiodun to submit its personal interest to the benefit of the people, with a challenge that he should administer the affairs of the state to strive to become a better Governor “than all those before him.”

Meanwhile, notable dignitaries at the event include; former Governor of the State, Otunba Gbenga Daniel, Alhaja Salimot Badru(former Deputy Governor Ogun State), Hon Tunji Egbetokun (former Speaker, Ogun State House of Assembly),  Remmy Hazzan(former Deputy Speaker, Ogun State House of Assembly),Ambassador Tunde Oladunjoye,  Gen Oladipo Diya (Rtd), Chief Bode Mustapha(Chieftain of All Progressives Congress) and the Speaker of the State House of Assembly, Hon. Suraj Adekunbi,Titi Oseni-Gomez(former Speaker Ogun State House of Assembly) as well as number of traditional rulers among other diginitaries.
