‘I WILL MAKE THE STATE UNCOMFORTABLE FOR CRIMINALS’, SAYS OGUN POLICE COMMISSIONER

The Commissioner who spoke during his maiden press conference on Monday, at the Police Command Headquarters, Eleweran, Abeokuta said he had given marching orders to the Divisional Police Officers and Area Commanders in the State to ensure that police presence was felt on the roads and around the State and environs.

Penpushing further reports that, he emphasized that  crime-fighting strategies of the command would integrate intelligent led community policing, which would transcend  not just law enforcement but would also embrace human security and development services.

The Police boss, who promised to review existing crime fighting strategies in the State in partnership with the State Government, traditional rulers, community and religious leaders, civil society, non-governmental organisations and the press with a view to launching an onslaught against crime.

“Our policing has to be driven by fore knowledge and guided by intelligence and strategic, operational and tactical levels. It should, therefore, be proactive, preventive in orientation and conducted within the context of public ownership, partnership and participation’, he said.

“I will ensure that the security architecture that has been in place in the past is strengthened and reinforced, the situation in Ogun State is relatively peaceful, and we are consolidating on what we met on ground’.

“On burglary, what we are going to do is that we are going to put in place machinery that will checkmate burglary, house breaking and other conventional minor offences like assault. We will look inward and ensure a strategy I called high visibility physical policing.”

Penpushing also reports that the Police boss also pledged to ensure that elaborate security arrangements are put in place as the Christmas and New Year approaches under an operation code named “Operation Restore Hope”.

“I want to assure members of the public in Ogun State that they understand that my stewardship will continue to discharge its responsibilities in line with the professional ethics of the force and in accordance with the rule of law’ ,Ebrimson said.
