I missed dancing skills of Governor Adeleke at my thanksgiving service, says Obasanjo
Former President Olusegun Obasanjo on Thursday said he felt the absence of Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke at the 6th Annual Thanksgiving Service organized for him by the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN)
Penpushing reports that Obasanjo made this known in his speech at the event held at Marquee Events Centre, Olusegun Obasanjo Presidential Library (OOPL), Abeokuta, where he specifically pointed out that Adeleke was not on ground to exhibit his known dancing skills.
The ceremony involved music performances by choir group of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), as well as Gospel and Juju maestro, Chief Ebenezer Obey-Fabiyi, which attracted congregants and guests dancing to the melodious songs.
Penpushing further reports that Adelele could not make the event, but sent a representative, which Obasanjo acknowledged, but told the gathering that if the Governor was on ground he would have entertain the audience with his skillful dance.
‘I appreciate Governor Adeleke for sending a representative to this event, I want the representative to help me express my appreciation to him, and should also help me tell him that I miss his dancing skills, for not been on ground. If he is here, he would have dance well as usual’, Obasanjo emphasized.
Penpushing also reports that it is recalled that sometime ago Obasanjo at the inauguration of a Very Important Personality (VIP) lodge in Osun Government House, Osogbo, admitted that Adeleke was his dancing partner
The Nigeria’s Former President, however, advised the Governor not to allow his dancing skills affect his performance in governance, stressing that he should focus on governing the state and do so with honesty and integrity.
‘You remember that at one time I phoned you; I told you I didn’t have problems with your dancing. I said, ‘Don’t leave dancing, but as you are dancing, ensure you are working. Some people once despised you as a dancer, but I said only happy people dance; you are my dancing partner’, Obasanjo said.
“You have to be honest with your conscience, with the people and with your God. You have to be a man of character. Let people say ‘when he sees an opportunity to dance, he will dance, but he is a man of integrity; he is honest and works hard. It is very important. Anywhere we meet, we would dance and rejoice; if anybody wants to abuse us, they should go ahead’, he added.
Penpushing reports that notable dignitaries at the events include Alake and Paramount Rulet of Egbaland, Oba Adedotun Gbadebo, Osile Oke-Ona, Oba Adedapo Tejuoso, Oba Jacob Omolade(OLubara) Olowu of Owu Kingdom, Oba Saka Matemilola, Olota of Ota, Oba Adeyemi Obalanlege and Chief(Mrs) Bola Obasanjo
The others are Senator Gbenga Daniel (former Governor of Ogun State), Ambassador Sarafa Isola(Former Nigerian Ambassador United Kingdom), Sir Kessignton Adebutu, Kanu Agabi(Former Attorney General and Minister of Justice), Chief Segun Odegbami(Former Captain Green Eagles), Dr Dimeji Kayode-Adedeji(Founder, Penpushing Media), Stella Sawyerr(Public Relations Manager, Apples and Pears), Dr Ade Abolurin(Former Commandant-General Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps), Sola Adeyemi(Former Head of Service,Ogun State) and three Oloris of Tejuoso among others
