How the nigerian system killed my beloved daughter- josephine olayemi odufowora

By Jide Olayemi

Josephine went for her antenatal at the health centre, Ota Ogun state Nigeria on the 11th June 2020 where it was confirmed that the twins in her womb are kicking and that there was no cause for alarm.

Around 12am the next day, she was rushed to a private hospital, where we where told to go back to the Health centre where she registered for her antenatal which we did accordingly. My brother-in-law Lawrence Ajiki  had to voice out that the health centre has only the features of a Poultry farm, with just 2 auxillary nurses present, we were referred to Ota General Hospital where we were left unattended to for over 3 hours as only 1 doctor was on duty who referred us to *Federal Medical Center  Abeokuta* after delaying us for hours..

NNPC

I took my daughter to Federal Medical Centre(FMC),Abeokuta in anticipation that it has various specialist Doctors, incubators, modernized health care gadgets, etc., as we were told at the General hospital.

We arrived at Federal Medical Centre (FMC),Abeokuta on the 13th June around 9:30pm. We met some doctors & nurses at the entrance of the ICU Emergency Ward. The look on their Faces was as good as those in a comedy hall after seeing my daughter very uncomfortable with her pregnancy.

The beginning of Josephine’s exit

For over 4 hours, my daughter was not attended to in ICU emergency ward,no bed space, untill a formal agreement of #18,500 weekly payment for bed space before she was finally attended to.. They kept ordering series of tests, scans and drugs, amounting to hundreds of thousands of naira.

It never crossed my mind that no doctor would attend to her after all the payment. The second day, an anonymous woman came to my wife and told her to take my daughter to a private hospital if she really loves her, as Federal Medical Centre(FMC),Abeokuta  won’t attend to your daughter, they only want to extort you.

The Questions Begging For Answers

1) Why did  Federal Medical Centre(FMC),Abeokuta  compel us to go for the series of tests and drugs knowing fully well they would not attend to my daughter?

2)Why did  Federal Medical Centre(FMC) not attend to a pregnant woman for over 6 hours in an emergency ICU ward ?

3) Why did  Federal Medical Centre(FMC) collect hundreds of thousands of Naira for Ward, bed space and others without attending to my daughter?

4) Why did the doctors keep collecting money knowing they won’t attend to my daughter?

5) Where are those that claimed that are proud of Nigeria?

6) Why was the cause for alarm after she was confirmed to be doing well at the Health centre just the same day?

The End is here

Josephine was taken to a private hospital in the early hours of June 16 where we were told to make a deposit of 500k before attending to us and 200k was paid in cash immediately..

The surgery was successful; she was stable, brushed her mouth and took a slice of bread as instructed by the doctor. She called her husband, spoke with her son too, and joy was on the faces of everyone present. However we had lost the twins.

An hour later, Josephine became restless, her eyes bulging and the doctors battled for 6 hours to save her life. She gave up the ghost at exactly 11:30pm on the 16th of June 2020 at age 25.

It therefore became a mystery and irrational seeing anyone confessing how much they love and prayed that God has bless Nigeria..My Daughter died only because this country failed her, she died because she was a Nigerian, leaving behind my little Emmanuel.

Please pray not for Josephine, but for what she left behind. Her project has been renamed Josephine616* and managed by Philip Adedamola Join us on Twitter at Josephine616@Olayemijide. Josephine, I’ll continue to Honor you even after your death.
