
Abeokuta North Local Government: Oyegbola-Sodipo unveils new developmental Initiatives to mark one year administration

The Chairman of Abeokuta North Local Government, Hon. Lanre Oyegbola-Sodipo, on Tuesday unveiled new developmental initiatives as part of activities marking his administration’s first year in office.
Penpushing reports that Oyegbola-Sodipo, at media parley held at the Local Government Secretariat, Akomoje, Abeokuta, Ogun State Capital also outlined key achievements of his administration
The council boss said his administration has made significant progress in human capacity development, education, healthcare, infrastructure, and staff welfare, all in alignment with the ISEYA agenda of Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun.

Penpushing further reports that he emphasized that governance should be result-driven and accountable, pointing out that public office holders must deliver tangible outcomes or step aside.
“We are asking for a new orientation, a new Nigeria where people put their mouth where their actions are. If I can’t get the job done, I shouldn’t remain there in perpetuity,” he said.
Penpushing also reports that highlighting the achievements of his administration within the past 12 months, announced several initiatives designed to empower residents and promote economic inclusion.
The chairman disclosed that among the initiatives is the introduction of a single-digit microcredit scheme for market women, the first of its kind in local government administration in Nigeria.
Penpushing reports that he explained that about 1,500 beneficiaries, grouped into 500 clusters, will benefit from the microcredit facility as part of efforts to support the informal sector and strengthen financial inclusion.

“Once our women have access to credit, it will impact their commercial activities, their families, and put more food on the table’ Oyegbola-Sodipo added.
Penpushing further reports that he revealed that three major markets will be commissioned as part of the one-year anniversary celebration, which include Ita Oshin Mall, Lafenwa Shopping Complex, and a new Computer Village at Olomore, as well as 240 shops
The chairman boasted that the new markets will be powered by mini-solar systems with individual metering to ensure 24-hour electricity supply for traders, stating that in the area of youth empowerment 100 young people would undergo training in soap making, detergent production, and other small-scale enterprises to promote self-reliance.
Penpushing also reports that he equally disclosed that Abeokuta North local government has commenced local paint production, creating jobs and boosting the local economy, while he reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to completing inherited projects.
The council chairman pointed out that two of such markets had already been completed, emphasizing that every project he met on ground will be completed, which he assured that it is for the interest and benefits of the people.
Penpushing reports that Oyegbola-Sodipo expressed optimism that Abeokuta North would become a model for effective local government administration in Nigeria and will be a reference point

“In the next two years, Abeokuta North Local Government will be a reference point comparable to what we have in the best-run local governments across the world,” he declared
Penpushing further reports he stated that as part of activities marking the anniversary, the council will also pay courtesy visits to first-class monarchs in the local government, including Agura, Olowu, and Osile of Oke-Ona.
