Gunmen throw bomb into police facility in Anambra state
Gunmen have invaded and threw explosive devices into the Police Divisional Headquarters, in Anaocha Local Government Area of Anambra State, an incident which occurred on Wednesday night, but it could not be established if any inmates escaped or hurt.
Penpushing reports that residents of the community said the hoodlums wanted to free some inmates in the facility, while it is also on record that, that was not the first time a police facility has been bombed by gunmen in the state and region.
The Anambra State Police Command Public Relations Officer, Tochukwu Ikenga when contacted on Thursday confirmed the attack adding that the explosive devices thrown by the attackers affected part of the police facility.
Penpushing further reports that Ikenga said the police operatives gallantly resisted the attackers, which made them flee, explaining that no life was lost and that the hoodlums neither carted away weapons nor abducted any police operative during the attack, and that police operatives were currently carrying out operations in the area to track down the hoodlums.
