Gunmen kill Nigerian judge during court session

Gunmen on Thursday stormed a customary court in Oguta Local Government Area of Imo State, and shot dead a judge, Nnaemeka Ugboma while presiding over a court session, an ugly development which forced court staff and litigants fleeing the scene.

Penpushing reports that the gunmen arrived on a motorcycle, forced their way into the court room dragged  the judge out and shot him dead , thereafter drove off from the premises, and left the corpse on the ground

The Chairperson of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) , Owerri Branch  Barrister Ugochukwu Allinor, confirmed the killing,  but as at the time of filing this report was yet to say what would be the next line of action of association.

Penpushing further reports that the Imo State Police Command Public Relations Officer, Henry Okoye when contacted confirmed the sad incident, adding that the police had begun an investigation to track down the suspects.

The police spokesperson who is an assistant superintendent of police, however, said as at the time he was contacted that calm had returned in the area and that police have also intensified patrol to forestall breakdown of law and order.
