Gunmen attack Governor Soludo’s local government, many people feared killed

Gunmen on Thursday launched violent attack and set ablaze the headquarters of Aguata Local Government Area, where Governor Charles Soludo hails from in Anambra State, with number of residents feared dead.

Penpushing reports that, an eyewitness, identified as Paul Okeke in an account said the bandits on arrival fired gunshots indiscriminately around the area before setting the council headquarters on fire

The resident explained that, some residents and shop owners close to the area scampered for safety during the attack, adding that some buildings were equally razed by the attackers, while many officials were feared killed in the attack.

Penpushing further reports that, the Anambra State Police Command Public Relations Officer, Tochukwu Ikenga, in response claimed that what happened was a fire incident, adding that as at the time of filing this report the situation was being monitored.

The police spokesman added that, as at the time of this report fire service had been contacted to make sure that the fire does not escalate, stressing that  the command had  deployed police to the area, but, however kept mute on the number of casualties.
