Gunmen abduct former polytechnic lecturer

Gunmen have kidnapped a retired lecturer of Federal Polytechic, Ofa, Kwara State, who was said to be travelling  on Wednesday from Abeokuta to Imasai  town, located in Abeokuta North Local Government area of Ogun State.

Penpushing reports that, the former polytechnic teacher, Fasasi Olanigan, a resident of rounder area of Abeokuta, Ogun State Capital, was said to be in his car with another occupant, heading towards his destination when he was seized in Isaga axis of the road by the gunmen

The wife said the incident occurred at about 2pm, adding that, as at the time of this report, a report had been made at Lafenwa Police Headquarters, and said, the whereabout of her husband was still unknown, stating that the kidnappers were yet to contact the family

Penpushing further reports that, the victim’s friend who was in the Toyota Verso car during the incident and narrowly escaped ,thereafter, raised alarm to inform the family and friends  of the seized former lecturer.

The brother of the victim, Alhaji Abass Olanigan, a retired Permanent Secretary in Ogun State Civil Service, also confirmed the incident, adding that, the kidnappers were said to have accosted the victim, having emerged from the bush, and at gun point dragged him into the bush.

Penpushing also reports that, following the incident, hunters in the neigbouring community made frantic efforts to comb the bush, having seen the foot prints of the abductors, but could not locate them as well as the victim as at the time of this report.

The victim’s junior brother said, the case was reported at a police post in Isaga, as well as Lafenwa Police, which is responsible for security of the jurisdiction, adding that the kidnappers were yet to get in touch with the family.

Penpushing reports that, Olanigan explained that his kidnapped brother decided to relocate to Abeokuta, after his retirement in Offa, with the conviction that, Ogun State is peaceful, lamenting that the incident was worrisome .

The retire Permanent Secretary and former Head of Protocol  at Governor’s Office, Abeokuta, passionately begged and called on police and other security operatives to help in the search and recovery of the victim alive

Penpushing further reports that, as at the time of filing this report, the police are yet to issue a statement on the development, while efforts to speak with the Command Public Relations Officer, Abimbola Oyeyemi was still ongoing
