Gunmen abduct 3 students of University of Calabar

Three students of the University of Calabar (UNICAL) have been kidnapped at the one of the hostels of the institution, while sources gave names of the abductees as Ojang Precious Ebejin, a 200-level student of the Department of Medicine and Surgery, Ugwu Chukwuemeka, a 300-level student of the Department of Genetics and Biotechnology, and Damilola Dickson, a final-year student of the same Department.

Penpushing reports that Cross River State Police Command Public Relations Officer Irene Ugbo, who confirmed the incident on Sunday in a statement disclosed that the students were kidnapped on Thursday night.

The police spokesperson, a superintendent of police, however, did not provide details of the abduction, but said the police were working in collaboration with other agencies to rescue the kidnapped students as at the time of filing this report.

Penpushing further reports that record showed that students are often abducted by bandits for ransom purposes from the families and the government, while some students abducted in the past are still in the den of their kidnappers as at the time of this report.
