Guests storm venue as final journey of late iyalode alaba lawson begins

The final journey of first female of NACCIMA and Iyalode of Yorubaland, Iyalode Alaba Lawson commenced on Thursday with a service of song conducted by the Cathedral of St. James African Church, Idi-Ape, Abeokuta.

Penpushing reports that the service held at Marquee Events Centre, Olusegun Obasanjo Presidential Library attracted number of dignitaries within and outside the country, which include various groups, associations and professional bodies

The ceremony which was beamed live by the Penpushing Media was well packaged by the burial committee, while the programme include testimonial by number of deceased associates, friends and host of others who had opportunity to have

The notable personalities at the events include Chief (Mrs) Bola Obasanjo wife of the former President Olusegun Obasanjo, Mrs Bamidele Abiodun, wife of Governor Dapo Abiodun of Ogun State, Rev Ebenezer Obey-Fabiyi, Senator Ibikunle Amosun(former Governor of Ogun State and wife), Engr Noimot Salako-Oyedele(Ogun State Deputy Governor) and Funke Fadugba(Chairman, Editorial Board of Penpushing Media)

Penpushing further reports that others are Senator Lanre Tejuoso, Hon Gboyega Isiaka (member House of Representatives) Oloris of Osile-Oke-Ona, Oba (Dr) Adedapo Tejuoso, Affi Israel-Ibanga, Tunde Kelani, Wasiu Olaleye and Tokunbo Talabi (Secretary to Ogun State Government) among others

The ECOWAS Federation of Business Women Entrepreneurs (FEBWE), Nigeria was led by the National Coordinator, Princess Tola Omole, while other organisations led by their leaders include Ogun State Chambers of Commerce, Industry, Mines and Agriculture (OGUNNCCIMA), Naccima Business Women Group (NAWORG), Association of Women and Business Owners (AWEBO) and Women Entrepreneurs and Professional Development Network among others

Penpushing also reports that it is recalled that Lawson died peacefully at 72, on October 28, 2023 in her private resident located at Quarry Road, Abeokuta, and thereafter 8-day burial arrangement was announced by the family

The burial committee had announced that December 1-6, 2023 had been allocated for various groups and associations who came forward to conduct series of tributes for Lawson who was their mentor and leader

Penpushing reports that on Friday December 1, 2023, NACCIMA Business Women Group (NAWORG) will held a special service in her honour at the NACCIMA office, Government Reservation Area (GRA Ikeja, Lagos

The ECOWAS Federation of Business Women Entrepreneurs (ECOWAS-FEBWE) in similar vein, on December 4, 2023 held will a night of tributes in deceased honour at the Radisson Blu Hotel, Government Reservation Area (GRA) Ikeja, Lagos.

Penpushing further reports that on Wednesday, December 6,  2023  Association of Egba Traders (Egba Lawa), Oke Ona Council of Chiefs, Egba Christian Chiefs and the Lawson Group of Schools will held  different sessions in  honour of the late 72 year-old woman.

The final burial service is scheduled to hold December 8, 2023 at the Cathedral of St. James African Church, Idi-Ape, Abeokuta., and thereafter interment which is designed strictly for the family of the deceased to participate

Penpushing also reports that the Ogun State Government had earlier announced traffic arrangements in honour of late Iyalode of Yorubaland due to the heavy flow of human and vehicular movement anticipated during the burial

The government while pleading with members of the public and road users along the axis for their cooperation and understanding for any inconveniences this might cause, assured that the strategy put in place would minimize delay and guarantee orderliness’, the statement added
