Groom, five guests die after wedding
A groom and five other persons have been reported dead after a traditional wedding in Obollo-Eke community located in Udenu Local Government Area of Enugu State, as source said they were found dead following day of the ceremony
Penpushing reports that, the source added that after the wedding, the guests went home in Akutara, Adani Community, Uzo-Uwani Local Government Area of the state, and continued the celebration before going to bed.
The Enugu State Police Command Public Relations Officer, Daniel Ndukwe who confirmed the sad incident, the following day when none of the wedding guests came out of their house, the door was forced open and all of them were found unconscious with foamy discharge from their mouths.
“They were immediately moved to the hospital, where six of them were confirmed dead and deposited in the mortuary for preservation and autopsy, while the others are responding to treatment’, Ndukwe said.
Penpushing further reports that, the Commissioner of Police Ahmed Ammani, as at the time of filing this report has ordered an investigation into the incident and commiserated with the families and friends of the deceased.
The police commissioner, however, appealed to residents of the community to maintain peace and support the police with necessary information that will aid the investigation and get to the root of the incident.
