GRANDSON OF LATE WESTERN REGION PREMIER, ADEGBENRO KICK STARTS FOUNDATION FOR DOWNTRODEEN

The Foundation in conjuction with Precious Sight Foundation organized a free medical eye service campaign, and also offered free medicated glasses to number of patients, the service said to be one out of the projects outlined for benefits of the residents of the State.

Penpushing further reports that, Adegbenro in his inaugural speech said, ’our sole objective is to alleviate the suffering of citizens of Ogun State and we intend to do so both in kind and in cash. Our first activity is free medical eye check’

The founder who is the Otunbalaje of Owu Kingdom explained that the mission to support the lofty idea was borne out of the passion for human development and assisting the needy, knowing fully well that an average Yoruba prefer to commit suicide than to take to begging.

‘It was a known fact that my family have enjoyed the support of the good people of Ogun State, socially and politically, particularly the Egba extraction. Infact none of my family members has ever regretted coming from this part of the State. Right from the generation of my forefather, Alhaji Daudu Sooroye Adegbenro, foremost politician and elder statesman per excellence. The support so far received cannot be over-emphasized.

Penpushing also reports that, Adegbenro disclosed that the foundation was conceived on June 22, 2019, ostensibly to give back to the people of Ogun State, through job creation and employment programmes and promoting health and well-being, while encouraging social interaction of local communities within the State as a whole.

The Founder added that, to realize or accomplish the mission, trustees will be set up in due course which will serve as the highest decisions making body of the foundation, adding that  the trustees will be interfacing between the needy and the foundation set processes for effective service delivery

‘We consider free medical eye campaign programs as our first priority because health is wealth. Following this, our next set of activities for the next three months to be implemented is based on priority areas’

‘During the next few months, you will be learning about the different initiatives through our planned activities, and special events where you will be able to join in and get hands on experiences. We hope all this will help the people of Ogun State to grow to be more productive and smart’, he emphaised.
