
Governor Fubara sacks commissioners, special advisers
The Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, has dissolved the State Executive Council (SEC) and sacked all Special Advisers, just as he also appointed Onwuka Nzeshi as a new Chief Press Secretary.
Penpushing reports that as at the time of filing this report no reason was provided for the sack of the former Chief Press Secretary, Nelson Chukwudi, who was relieved of his appointment.
The dissolution of the cabinet was contained in a Government Special Announcement issued in Port Harcourt on Thursday by the newly appointed Chief Press Secretary, while the Governor asked the commissioners and special advisers to hand over to the Permanent Secretaries or the most Senior officers in their Ministries with immediate effect.
“His Excellency, Sir Siminalayi Fubara, GSSRS, Governor of Rivers State, has dissolved the State Executive Council. His Excellency, the Governor, has therefore directed all Commissioners and Special Advisers to hand over to the Permanent Secretaries or the most Senior officers in their Ministries with immediate effect’, the statement read.

“His Excellency further expresses his deepest appreciation to the outgoing members of the Executive Council, wishing them the best in their future endeavours’, the statement added
Penpushing further reports that with the latest development the Governor is expected to send a fresh list of commissioner nominees to the Martin Amaewhule-led House of Assembly for screening and confirmation.
Meanwhile, source said as part of the agreement reached with Minister of Federal Capittal Territory (FCT) and former Governor Nyelsom Wike, Fubara is to accept some his (Wike) loyalists into his new cabinet, while outstanding commissioners who worked with Fubara now sacked may return.
