GOVERNOR AJIMOBI REITRATES COMMITMENT TO QUALITY BASIC EDUCATION
Penpushing reports that, Ajimobi, who was represented by his Deputy, Chief Moses Adeyemo, said his administration would continue to evolve measures toward sustaining the solid foundation in the education sector.
He emphasised the importance of a solid foundation in educational development, stressing that the future of the children starts from the basics, and also commended the board for taking time to move round schools to assess the impact of basic education in the State.
The Governor said, “we appreciate the commission for assisting the State in infrastructure and capacity building,”, and called on the delegation to ensure the commission earlier promise of building a model schools in the State becomes a reality.
Earlier, the Chairman of the Commission, Dr Mahmud Abubakar said the delegation was in Ibadan for data collection and to assess the performance of Universal Basic Education Commission (UBEC) in the State.
He explained that the exercise would allow the commission generates adequate and complete data that would facilitate proper planning, adding that the second round of its assessment and enumeration exercise for elementary schools in the State was in line with the National Personnel Audit (NPA) policy.
The Executive Secretary of the Commission, Dr Hamid Boboyi, on his part, stressed the need for government to increase funding for public education, toward ensuring a better future for the children. He commended the state government for regularly fulfilling its obligations in payment of counterpart funds to the commission.
