Governor Abiodun appreciates penpushing media for injecting corporate social responsibility into journalism practice
The Ogun State Governor Prince Dapo Abiodun has commended Penpushing Media for injecting corporate social responsibilities into news reportage as well as its determination to fight fake news which is almost taking over journalism across the globe.
Penpushing reports that Abiodun made this commendation while hosting Editorial Board of the media organisation at the Presidential lodge in Abeokuta, giving kudos to the management for intervening positively in the issues of two physically challenged persons which include Sarah Ajayi, a virtually impaired lady and Abiodun Omoyayi, a wheelchair bound person.
The Management of Penpushing Media, it will be recalled took up the challenges of the lady found on the street of Abeokuta begging for alms, and gave her 3-year academic sponsorship with the assistance of former Military Administrator of Ogun State and frontline member of Penpushing platform, Colonel Daniel Akintonde(rtd) to the school for the blind
Penpushing further reports the lady who lost her sight while in Junior Secondary School (JSS2) has since completed her course and today a graduate who now specialises in Hospitality Management, Information and Communication (ICT), Use of English and Bead Making
The Board and Management of Penpushing Media in same vein, took up the challenges of Omoyayi, a physically challenged graduate of mass communication from Moshood Abiola Polytechnic, and paved way for acquisition of wheelchair for him by Mrs Bola Obasanjo, wife of former President Olusegun Obasanjo.
Penpushing also reports that, with the management’s proactiveness and genuine desire to make life meaningful for the less privileged, Omoyayi has since secured job in the department of Public Relations of Federal Medical Centre (FMC), Abeokuta
The Governor impressed by the zeal of Penpushing Media recommended the feats as reference point and said his administration appreciated the laudable project, and pledged to support such similar case by the organisation, and emphasized need for other media organisations to emulate.
Penpushing reports that, the Governor, however, promised to secure job for the virtually impaired girl, and thereafter directed that the issue of Sarah be referred to the appropriate ministry, and thanked the visiting Board for raising the hope of the lady
The Chairman Editorial Board, Olufunke Fadugba earlier in her speech said Penpushing Media was established five years ago to add value to journalism practice, and also fight fake news globally, stressing that the management will continue to propagate responsible journalism
Penpushing further reports that Fadugba added that, a new developmental journalism was introduced when the organization gave life to Penpushing Media, explaining that this has to do with corporate social responsibility, which has since put the organization at a relevant level.
The Chairman disclosed that the integrity of Penpushing Media has earned it an enviable position in the media industry, adding that the organisation is in partnership with a number of reputable international organisations which include United Nations Information Centre (UNIC), member of International Press Institute (IPI) and Guild of Corporate Online Publishers (GOCOP) and Nigerian Guild of Editors (NGE) among others
