Governor Abiodun appoints nine permanent secretaries

The Ogun State Governor Prince Dapo Abiodun has approved the appointment of nine new permanent secretaries, two principals-general, and four headteachers-general.

Penpushing reports that Head of Service Kehinde Onasanya, made this known in a statement made available to journalists on Wednesday in Abeokuta, explaining that the appointments were made in line with Section 208(c) of the 1999 Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria (as amended).

The number one civil servant added that the appointments followed careful consideration of merit, professionalism, inclusiveness, and relevant experience in the Ogun State civil/public service.

Penpushing further reports that Onasanya stated that the newly appointed permanent secretaries were selected from a pool of directors who successfully completed the Ogun State Executive Leadership Development Pipeline Programme, explaining that the programme served as a platform for grooming top-level public service leaders.

The newly appointed permanent secretaries include: Mr Abdul-Azeez Ajidele, Director of Planning, Research and Statistics, Ministry of Justice; and Mrs Olufunmilayo Soyoye-Baker, Director of Agriculture and State Coordinating Director, Cash Transfer Unit.

Penpushing also reports that others are Mrs Adebimpe Obienu, Director of Public Prosecution, Ministry of Justice; Dr (Mrs) Kafayat Lawal, Executive Secretary, Alternate Medicine Board; and Mr Ahmed Adetona, Director of Audit, Office of the Auditor-General (State).

The statement added that also appointed are Mr Idowu Onasanya, Director of Administration and Supplies, Ministry of Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs; Mr Olalekan Taiwo, Director of Payment, State Treasury Office; Mr Akintomiwa Osibodu, Director of Administration and Supplies, Teaching Service Commission; and Mr Kehinde Akintomide, Director of Industrial Promotion, Ministry of Industry, Trade and Investment.

Penpushing reports that Onasanya added that the governor equally approved the appointment of two principals-general and four headteachers-general to fill existing vacancies within the Teaching Service Commission and the State Universal Basic Education Board.

The statement said those appointed as principals-general include Mr Matthew Osilesi for Remo Division and Mr Yakubu Lamidi for Ijebu Division, while the new headteachers-general are Mr Benjamin Alonge (Ijebu Division), Mrs Aminat Busari (Remo Division), Mr Olusegun Akapo (Yewa Division) and Mrs Folake Omolara Onabanjo (Egba Division).

Penpushing further reports that Onasanya stated that the education sector appointments followed a rigorous selection process, including oral interviews, comprehensive screening and inspection of schools previously managed.

The Head of Service congratulated the appointees and urged them to exhibit dedication, selflessness and excellence in the discharge of their duties, while contributing meaningfully to the development of the state.

Penpushing also reports that he disclosed that the inauguration ceremony for the new appointees would be conducted by the governor on a date yet to be announced.
