Governance: My best not good enough, Buhari admits
The outgoing Nigeria’s President Muhammadu Buhari has admitted that his best in governance has not been good enough, as he said he has been trying his best to make Nigeria better, but yet he’s being harassed
Penpushing reports that Buhari made this known in a documentary shown Friday night at a private dinner in Abuja , the Federal Capital Territory(FCT) organised by his family and associates to celebrate his 80th birthday
The President at the ceremony tagged “Celebrating A Patriot, a Leader, an Elder Statesman’, it is recalled had sometime ago has repeatedly said he would not only do his best for Nigeria but was anxious to retire to his hometown at the end of his second term in May 2023.
“I think I’m being harassed. I believe I’m trying my best but still, my best is not good enough, I wonder if I am going to miss much. I look forward to the year 2023 when I finish, go home to take charge of my farm. Between now and that time, I will do my best to advance the interest of the nation and its people, and carry out my duties as prescribed by the constitution’, he was quoted to have said.
Penpushing further reports that, it is recalled that during a bilateral meeting with his Turkish counterpart in Istanbul, Recep Erdogan, in December 2021 said he would do his best for the advancement of his country and the citizens before the end of his tenure.
The president, who assumed office in 2015 after three previous attempts at the presidency, in July 2022 when some Governors and political leaders paid him Sallah homage declared that he was eager to retire to Daura and not to Kaduna because.
Penpushing also reports that, Buhari while wishing the person to take over from him the best, said at the forum that he had done his best, notably in the area of infrastructure, relative to the resources available, and compared to the previous administration.

Penpushing reports that the Presidential Candidate of the ruling All Progressives Congress(APC),Bola Tinubu in his own submission said the outgoing President came to rule at a critical time and has done well
‘You have been at the helm of the affairs of this country at a critical time. We have seen a life of commitment, dedication, patriotism and honesty. Mr President, you have done well for your country. Our nation has seen the difference, the leadership that you demonstrate’, Tinubu said
Penpushing further reports that Tinubu likened Buhari to leaders like Charles De Gaulle of France, Franklin Roosevelt of America, and Winston Churchill of Great Britain, stressing that the leadership he has demonstrated was unique
“The leadership you have demonstrated reminded me of the speech you gave at the primary convention when you won the nomination. You thanked the people with all humility and said even if you had the money, you would not have paid. But that is because they know who you are, a man of integrity, great commitment, transparency and an exceptional humility”, Tinubu added
Penpushing also reports that Ebonyi State Governor David Umahi in his remarks described Buhari as a detribalized person who means well for Nigeria, and a man who loves the country and have passion for it
‘Let me say here that the president is a very highly detribalized personality. He is a man that loves this nation. Every time you meet him, he laments about the level of patriotism of our people. You will see a man that has passion for the people of this country, a man that loves every section of this country,” he said.
The Governor used the occasion in commending the president for completing the second Niger bridge describing it as a miracle, noting that the bridge is now facilitating the movement of the people and goods to the Eastern part of the country

Second Niger Bridge is a miracle that those of us in the South East are still savouring and it is only you, Mr President that could have done it. Because when you say something, you do it”, Umahi stated
