GOMBE COMMISSIONER OF POLICE RETURNS RECOVERED MACE TO SPEAKER

Olukolu said the Command worked closely with the party leadership, House of Assembly leadership and other security agencies, security measurers’ which prevented the personalities involved from taking away the mace outside Gombe.

The police boss added further that, the pressure consequently made the suspects to abandon the mace by the National Industrial Court, Gombe State where it was recovered early Friday by the police, while the mace was subsequently handed over to the Speaker for his retention and use.

‘I wish to seize this opportunity to thank all the stake holders in Gombe State and the Inspector General of Police for believing in us and giving the Command the opportunity to search for and recover the mace right inside Gombe State’, the Commissioner said.

‘The Command therefore wishes to use this medium to warn all and sundry particularly politicians to desist from criminal acts being perpetrated in the name of politics and refrain from causing tension and unnecessarily heating up the polity. As the rule of law is no respecter of any person. They should remember that the law will always take its course’, he declared.
