
God has been merciful to me in transforming egbaland in 20 years of my reign, says Oba Aremu Gbadebo

The Alake and Paramount Ruler of Egbaland, Oba (Dr.) Adedotun Aremu Gbadebo has affirmed that the peaceful atmosphere in Egbaland in the last twenty years of his reign is a driving force from God.
Penpushing reports that Gbadebo stated this at a press conference heralding his 20th coronation anniversary celebrations held at, Ake Palace, Abeokuta, Ogun state capital, emphasizing that it has been the grace of God for the peace, unity and development in the ancient town.
The monarch said Egbaland has witnessed landmark transformation in two decades under his reign including expansion of traditional leadership structures, revival of rural communities, improved security architecture and growth in educational infrastructure.

“It is God that enables one to do everything that one has been able to do. That is the primary reason for this celebration to thank God. By 2030 we will showcase a new Town Hall,” he stated.
Penpushing further reports that Gbadebo pointed out that over 40 traditional rulers have been crowned in Egbaland under his watch, to ensure development spreads beyond Abeokuta into villages and communities.
The royal father listed the establishment of new maternity centres, schools, security posts, industrial growth and the introduction of two federal universities in Abeokuta as part of developmental milestones achieved within the period.
Penpushing also reports that he recalled that 20 years ago, Egbaland had neither the current railway station nor the emerging infrastructural upgrades now visible across the ancient kingdom, assuring that development will continue.

The Chairman of the Organising Committee, Chief Oluyinka Kufile in his remarks explained that the anniversary is not merely a royal celebration but a festival of gratitude, reflection and thanksgiving for two decades of purposeful and peaceful reign.

The committee boss explained that Friday November 14, 2025 will begin with Jumat Service at the Abeokuta Central Mosque and the presentation of scholarships and bursaries at Adire Hall, adding that Saturday November 15, 2025 will feature chieftaincy installations to honour notable contributors to the Egba nation, followed by a luncheon to be hosted by the Egba general title chiefs.
Penpushing further reports that he said, Monday November 17, 2025, will witness a visit to the School of the Physically Challenged, Stella Obasanjo Orphanage and other homes, alongside a major medical outreach.
The chairman stated that these including menopause sensitisation for 1,000 people at the Ake Palace, eye screening at Centenary Hall, and free surgeries for about 50 patients with eye conditions.
Penpushing also reports that Kufile stated that the Egba National Association of United States of America (USA) and Canada will also host the monarch to a luncheon, adding that Tuesday November 18, 2025 is reserved for traditional homages from townships, communities, societies and clubs across Egbaland.
The committee chairman said the peak of the celebration comes on Wednesday November 19, 2025 with a special thanksgiving service at the Cathedral Church of St. Peter, Ake, followed by a grand reception and book presentation.
Penpushing reports that the programme continues on Saturday November 22, 2025 with the South West Junior Squash Tournament, sponsored through the Ajisewa Egba Foundation, in line with Kabiyesi’s passion for youth development in sports.
The chairman urged sons, daughters and friends of Egbaland at home and abroad to join in celebrating the historic milestone, noting that two decades of the Alake’s reign have strengthened unity, enhanced culture and deepened the traditional institution’s contribution to development.
