GIDEON ORPHANAGE AT 10: “IT IS GOD’S OWNS PROJECT”, SAYS TOYIN BANJO
The founder and he celebrant, Chief (Mrs) Banjo, while speaking appreciated everyone who had contributed to the progress of Gideon Orphanage Home, and also affirmed that. “the Children are more than this but most of them have been adopted, some are under fostering, also some of them have been sponsored by our matrons and patrons and they are in private schools doing well, and some are even in America’.
“It is God that have put the Orphanage Home on my mind to work on, because this cannot be a Devil’s assignment, and I know that I was not an orphan when I was young for me to have started this Orphanage Home but God in His infinite mercy helped and sustained us to this level” she said.
Penpushing further reports that Banjo, appreciated the aged women for their time, perseverance and commitment, despite that it is not easy to be coming down there, stating, “I also appreciate our aged mothers for their time and for coming here, but it is not easy, though we do use a bus to convey them but it is not functioning well, and we are also using it for the children’.
‘Not all of them live in this area, some of them are living outside and they are also in one business or the other, because they still want to be active. So we need a bus for easy transportation of our aged mothers and children.
“I have 140 aged women on my list, but not all of them are here, but in order to further assist them in their businesses, 15 of them will be given financial assistance now and I will plead with them to spend the money judiciously and what is supposed to use for, because our manager will come and check out when the time comes” she added.
The Chairman of the occasion, Ambassador Tunde Oladunjoye, in his speech said that caring for the aged needs one to be careful and be ready to provide anything needed by them anytime, adding that since he understands the task behind this assignment, that has made him to be praying for the founder whenever he goes on Hajj every year.
“This is my first time of meeting the Founder, Chief (Mrs) Oluwatoyin Banjo, aside from Facebook meetings, and anytime I go to Mecca, I do pray for her, this is because I understand the task behind taking care of the aged ones, because if one is not careful, you can sin against God” he said.
Penpushing also reports that, while declaring his support for the Orphanage Home, Oladunjoye said “It is not until one wants to run for a political position that you now start working on a Community Project, one can do that without running for a political office, else that person will just run away without knowing his purpose. In this regards, I have informed my sister that as from today, I am now a member of the Gideon Orphanage Home, may God help us”
Similarly, former Deputy Speaker, Ogun State House of Assembly Hon. Remmy Hassan,in his own remarks called for prayers and support for the founder, adding that there was indication that the Ogun State Government was interested in partnering with the Home.
“We all need to support Chief (Mrs) Oluwatoyin Banjo with prayers, since we are celebrating both Gideon Orphanage Home and the founder, I wish all of us a very wonderful celebration. As a patron, I want to inform you that the government is ready to partner with us, but we are yet to decide on which aspect. We will come again next year to celebrate, without anyone missing or dead. I wish you all a wonderful celebration, once again”, said.
Speaking with Penpushing on the celebration, one of the aged women,Mrs Sola Ademuyiwa, said “we thank God for today that He spared her life till today, and we pray that she will celebrate more of this day in life, so other aged women also thank her, we pray for a long life for her, Amen”
