Former Angola President Jose Dos Santos is dead
The former President of Angola, Jose Dos Santos, has died on Friday, due to ailment he has been battling with and receiving medical treatment, while the country will from midnight July 9 observe five days of national mourning in his honour.
Penpushing reports that the embassy of Angola in Nigeria confirmed in a statement adding that, it will open, a book of condolences from Monday, July 11, 2022, in honor of the nationalist and patriot, ho as one of Africa’s longest serving leaders,and stepped down five years ago.
The former President who referred to himself as an accidental president took over after Angola’s first leader, Agostinho Neto, who died during a cancer surgery in 1979, breath his last in the city of Barcelona, Spain,
“Born on August 28, 1942, in Luanda, José Eduardo dos Santos was a unique figure of Angolan nationalism with his participation in the fight against colonization, in the conquest of national independence, in the affirmation of Angola in the context of Nations, in the conquest of peace, reconstruction and national reconciliation. The Embassy of Angola in Abuja, will open from Monday, July 11, a Book of Condolences in honor of the nationalist and patriot Jose Eduardo,” the statement said.
