Soyinka commends Tinubu for sack of some service chiefs

The United Premier Movement (UPM) has commended President Bola Tinubu on the sack of some service chiefs in the military and subsequent replacement, stressing that the decision was timely and strategic move.

Penpushing reports that Convener of the movement Hon. (Chief) Olalekan Shoyinka gave the commendation on Friday in a statement made available to journalists adding that the decision became necessary at a critical moment in national life of the country

‘This decisive step is a timely and strategic move taken at a critical moment in our national life — a period when the security of Nigerians, the stability of our democracy, and the safety of government institutions demand renewed vigilance and stronger reinforcements’, he wrote.

Penpushing further reports that Soyinka popularly called Ayinla Egba pointed out that Tinubu has once again demonstrated courage and foresight in responding to the call for a more proactive national security architecture.

‘On behalf of the leadership and members of the United Premier Movement, I, Hon. (Chief) Olalekan A. Shoyinka (Ayinla Egba), commend Mr. President for once again demonstrating courage and foresight in responding to the call for a more proactive national security architecture’, Soyinka stated.

‘This action reflects his commitment to safeguarding our sovereignty and restoring the confidence of Nigerians in the ability of our Armed Forces to protect lives and property across the country’, he added.

‘We equally salute the outgoing Service Chiefs, particularly General Christopher Musa and his colleagues, for their years of dedicated and patriotic service to the nation. Their tenure has laid valuable foundations upon which their successors must now build’.

‘To the newly appointed Service Chiefs — General Olufemi Oluyede (Chief of Defence Staff), Major-General W. Shaibu (Chief of Army Staff), Air Vice Marshal S.K. Aneke (Chief of Air Staff), and Rear Admiral I. Abbas (Chief of Naval Staff) — we extend our heartfelt congratulations and charge you to defend our democracy with every legitimate means at your disposal’.

‘The nation looks up to you to strengthen inter-service collaboration, adopt modern intelligence-driven tactics, and ensure that the welfare of our troops remains top priority. The lives of every Nigerian, wherever they may reside, must remain sacred and protected’.

‘In doing so, you will not only justify the confidence reposed in you by the President but also etch your names in the golden pages of our nation’s history. May this new era in our Armed Forces usher in greater peace, unity, and renewed hope for our beloved country, Nigeria’.
