Footballer slumps, dies on pitch in Lagos
A 31-year old footballer, has slumped and died while playing at the Green Field Football Ground, in Lekki area of Lagos State, with the corpse already deposited at a public morgue for autopsy, while police investigation had been launched.
Penpushing reports that, Lagos State Police Command, Benjamin Hundeyin, was reported to have confirmed the incident on his verified Twitter handle on Monday, explaining that, policemen from Maroko police division brought in the information on Friday.
The police spokesman said, the footballer was rushed to Ever Care Hospital, Lekki for treatment where he was confirmed dead at about 6.30pm by the Doctor on duty, adding that based on the report, police detectives visited that scene and the hospital
“Based on the report, a team of detectives visited the football scene and the hospital where the corpse was inspected and photographs taken. The corpse has been deposited at a public morgue for autopsy. Meanwhile, investigation is in progress’, Hundeyin said.
Penpushing further reports that, the command image maker, however, advised members of the public, particularly sports persons not to push their limits, pointing out that when tired, they should take a rest, and same vein, do regular medical check-up.
