FLOOD SACKS 228 PRISON INMATES IN KOGI

The Comptroller General said the rearrested inmates have being transferred to other prison facilities in the State, adding that details of the incident will be made public later.

Penpushing further reports that, the Security Adviser to the State Governor, Jerry Omadara, while speaking confirmed that over 100 of the inmates had been re-arrested., stating that some of the inmates returned on their own, some reported themselves at nearby police stations while a combined team of policemen, army, navy and civil defence corps arrested others.

The Security Adviser disclosed that, the government was aware of the   incident said to occurred  at about 4 a.m., stating  that Governor Yahaya Bello immediately directed the head of security agencies in the State to deploy their personnel to the scene.

Penpushing further reports that, Omodara explained that the escaped inmates did that for safety of the lives, adding that as at the ti,e of filing this report  security agents were still combing the bush to re-arrest some of the fleeing inmates.

The Security Adviser also noted  that the flood was not making it easy for them to escape, just as he commended the security agencies for their prompt intervention, saying that nobody died in the incident.
