Five persons die in crash along Lagos-Ibadan expressway

Five persons have been reported dead in an auto crash within the axis of Foursquare church along Lagos-Ibadan expressway on Tuesday, while twelve people sustained various degree of injuries, with the cause of the crash said to be burst tyre.

Penpushing reports that Chief Route Commander of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Ogun State Command Florence Okpe who confirmed the incident in a statement added that two vehicles were involved

The statement stated that the involved vehicles include HOWO truck with registration number ZE-1210G  and a Mazda bus with registration number  SMK685YG, adding that total number persons in the crash was eighteen

Penushing further reports that Okpe disclosed that aside from the burst tyre other cause of the crash was fatigue which led to loss  of control because the driver slept off on the wheel and ran into a moving truck.

The statement added that the injured victims were taken to Victory Hospital Ogere while the corpses were deposited at FOS morgue Ipara, adding that the Sector Commander Anthony Uga advised motorists to shun speed and always go for good tyres.

Penpushing also reports that the sector commander emphasized on the issue of fatigue and that drivers should map out time to rest and equally charge passengers to always be at alert to correct some abnormalities.
