Five die, 1 injured in road crash along Ijebu-Ode-Ore expressway

Five persons were on Sunday killed in auto crash involving a Mack truck and a Honda Accord car at Ososa junction along Ijebu-Ode-Ore expressway, as a result of speed and wrongful overtaking on the part of the Honda car and had a side collision with the truck.

Penpushing reports that Chief Route Commander of Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Ogun State Command Florence Okpe made this known in a statement adding that a total of 8 persons were involved.

‘The fatal crash occurred at the early hours this morning at about 0609 hrs involving 02 vehicles a Mack truck and a Honda Accord car with no registration number on it. A total of 08 persons were involved 07 male adult and 01 female adult’.

‘01 person was injured and 05 persons were recorded death 04 male adult and 01 female adult while 02 persons were unhurt. The suspected causes of the crash were speed and wrongful overtaking on the part of the Honda car and had a side collision with the truck’, Okpe added

Penpushing further reports that the Public Education Officer for Sector Commander in the statement added that the injured victim was taken to General Hospital Ijebu-Ode and the dead bodies deposited at the same Hospital morgue

The statement added that the Sector Commander Anthony Uga described the crash as an avoidable one if caution was put in place, and also advised motorists to stop making quick turning on the expressway and rather use the intersection or the proper turning point

Penpushing also reports that the Sector Commander sympathized with the family of the victims and advised to contact Federal Road Safety (FRSC) Ijebu-Ode Command for more information about the crash and the victims
