Five dead in Lagos-Ibadan expressway accident

Five persons were killed and one injured in a multiple auto crash on Thursday on Lagos-Ibadan expressway, a crash said to occur at about 9.30am, as a result of reckless driving and wrongful overtaking.

Penpushing reports that, the Public Relations Officer of the Ogun State Traffic Compliance and Enforcement Corps (TRACE) ,Babatunde Akinbiyi confirmed the sad development in a statement.

.The Public Relation Officer said the crash which occurred within the Sagamu interchange axis of the expressway involved three vehicles comprising a Daf tanker with no registration number, a Benz truck marked FST 340 XW, and a Mazda space bus marked GGE 296 DC.

Penpushing further reports that, Akinbiyi said that five persons died while one sustained injuries in the accident, adding that the corpses of victims have been deposited at Idera Hospital morgue, Sagamu, while the survivor is also receiving treatment in the same hospital.

The Ogun State Traffic Compliance and Enforcement Corps (TRACE)  spokesman said the three vehicles involved in the accident had been taken to Police MTD Area Command, Sagamu, Ogun.

Penpushing also reports that, Akinbiyi advised motorists to refrain from reckless driving and wrongful overtaking that could lead to unnecessary loss of lives, and condoled with the family members of those that lost their lives in the multiple accident.
