Fire guts Nigerian headquarters of West African Examination Council
The headquarters of West Africa Examination Council (WAEC) located in Yaba, Lagos State was on Wednesday gutted by fire, just few minutes after some of the workers and particularly the non-academic staff union members had resumed.
Penpushing reports that, as at the time of filing this report the cause of the fire was yet to be ascertained, but many of the workers were seen running helter-skelter for safety to avoid getting trapped in the building
The cause of the fire as at the time of filing this report was yet to be ascertained, while the authorities of the establishment in reaction on the development said nobody was hurt, as all staff were successfully evacuated.
The Acting Head of the Public Affairs Unit of West African Examination Council (WAEC), Moyosola Adesina, who also confirmed the incident, however, said the situation was under control, adding that the fire fighters were quickly invited.
“Yes, the fire outbreak was noticed at the headquarters this morning and the fire fighters were quickly invited. I can confirm to you that everyone in the building was successfully evacuated and that the fire has been put out.”
