Female Civil Defence Corps officer dies after being crushed by operational van
A female officer of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NCDC) has been reportedly crushed to death on Saturday during a “show of force” exercise by the Corps’ Female Strike Force. also known as the Female Squad.
Penpushing reports that the sad incident which occurred in Abuja, Federal Capital Territory (FCT) was captured in a viral 58-second video circulating on social media, which showed a black operational van with red wheels, bearing the inscription “Female Squad,” was moving with a second van, marked “Female Strike Force FCT Command,” following behind. footage
The footage showed that during a turn, the lead vehicle ran over a female officer, pinning her underneath it, which caused pandemonium as officials of the corps and bystanders rushing to the scene, together lifting the van to rescue the trapped victim into a waiting ambulance.
Penpushing further reports that as at the time of filing this report the identity of the deceased officer has not been made public, while the spokesperson of the corps Afolabi Babawale confirmed the death of the officer, adding that a detailed statement would be issued to clarify the circumstances surrounding the tragedy.
