Federal medical centre abeokuta records two fresh coronavirus cases
The Federal Medical Centre Idi – Aba, Abeokuta has recorded two new cases of coronavirus, who had earlier presented at the centre’s Accident and Emergency unit, just as the authorities said arrangements were ongoing on to transfer them to isolation centre in Ikenne.
Penpushing reports that, Head, Public Relations and information of the institution, Segun Orisajo who confirmed on Tuesday said the two persons were from Lagos, and came to the hospital on Saturday, adding that following suspicious of the caregivers their samples were taken.
The hospital spokesman said, in confirmation of the earlier suspicion by the care givers, the results of their samples returned were positive, adding that they were immediately isolated from other patients, while arrangements are being finalised to transfer them to Ikenne isolation centre.
‘The two cases who were adult males presented at the Centre’s Accident & Emergency unit on Saturday 16th May 2020 .Both of them were from Lagos axis. In adherence to the triage protocol put in place as part of the control measures, the two patients were immediately isolated from other patients’, Orisajo said.
Penpushing further reports that, he added that, ’in confirmation of the earlier suspicion by the care givers, the results of their samples returned a few minutes ago positive. Arrangements are being finalized for their movement to the Ogun State Isolation Centre, Ikenne’.
The Medical Director of the hospital, Prof. Adewale Musa- Olomu in his reaction reiterated his earlier appeal to members of the public not to panic, adding,” I wish to remark once again that there was nothing to worry about’.
” All our personnel who treated those patients took necessary precautionary measures. The Centre at the moment is not in short supply of Personal Protective Equipment for our personnel’, he said.
“At the same time we ensure the utmost safety of all patients who come to our Centre for medical and health care services. On the latest new cases, I wish to assure our Staff and users of our facility that the Management is on top of the situation “Musa-Olomu said.
