Family accuses event centre management of refusal to refund N.45million paid for cancelled ceremony
A family is now at logger head with management of Ontec events centre located on Moshood Abiola way Abeokuta, for the management alleged refusal to refund money paid for use of the centre, a ceremony that has been suspended
Penpushing reports that, the family said they approached the management of the event centre to book the hall and made deposit of N475, 000 for a wedding scheduled to hold on February, 2023, which was subsequently postponed.
The family said this was made known to the management of the events centre, and requested for refund, having cancelled the venue for the ceremony, while the authorities of the centre promised to refund within two weeks after the cancellation
Penpushing further reports that, the family pointed out that sixth weeks after the promise, the management had continued to dillydallying over the refund, adding that, all efforts to refund had met a brickwall, a development considered as deceitful and deliberate attempt to hold on to the refund
‘We were planning for the wedding for February 2023 and made a deposit N475, 000 to use the ONTECH event centre. The event was cancelled and made request for refund. The event centre evidently re-rented out the place and promised a refund within two weeks’, the family stated
‘This is the sixth week. Now the manager and President of the thrift company managing the place are giving us the runaround, come today, come tomorrow. That is the situation, and it is disappointing, the family stressed
Penpushing also reports the manager of the establishment, Adeola Soetan when contacted for the reaction said he was not interested on the complaint, declaring that, he could not say the precise time the refund will be made
‘I believe going to press is not a threat to the event centre, as at the time of booking more than five customers came the same day, but were turned back because they have paid. Now that they called the event off, we are praying for someone to come for that day we refund their money’ Soetan declared
Penpushing reports that, when attention of the manager was drawn to the fact that, the cancelled ceremony was scheduled for next year February, and whether the management was waiting for a period of four months to make the refund, he said he could not be specific when the refund could be made
