Failure to demonstrate sufficient capacity, effective delivery cost Ajuri Ngelale his job, says source

The sudden step aside by Ajuri Ngelale, the spokesperson of President Bola Tinubu has been traced to his failure to demonstrate sufficient capacity to effectively deliver on the job, contrary to his claim that he was leaving to attend to family medical issues.

Penpushing reports that sources from the Presidency disclosed that Ngelale who was appointed on recommendation of Seyi Tinubu, son of the President was said to have started his journalism career in 2011, a period of about eight years.

The sources added that in the past weeks the Presidency has been shopping for his replacement, with focus on experienced and competent media professional, and when Ngelale got the hint, he moved ahead of the plan and tendered a letter of registration to avoid being humiliated.

Penpushing further reports that Aso Rock sources disclosed that other factors responsible for his exit was that it became clear to the authorities that   Ngelale lacked the requisite experience, contacts and networks needed for the job.

The sources added that at a point, Ngelale was blocked in accessing the President while those who paved way for his appointment started avoiding him, and one of the signals to his irrelevance was denial to follow the President for the China’s trip

Penpushing reports that the sources revealed that other factor which worked against Ngelale was that he had little contact with local and international media and commanded little respect from media owners, editors, and leading journalists in Nigeria.

The source, who is an official in the presidency declared that it was a misnomer and a miscalculation for Tinubu to have appointed such a junior journalist to such a senior position, adding that it was not surprising that he could not deliver as expected.

Penpushing further reports that the source said the authorities recently directed the 38-year-old Ngelale to focus on his climate action role while another individual is appointed to serve as media adviser and spokesperson to the president.

The source said Ngelale who held two key positions simultaneously:  Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity and Special Presidential Envoy on Climate Action/ Chairman, Presidential Steering Committee on Project Evergreen was not comfortable with the decision

Penpushing also reports that he preferred to hold on to the media adviser position while stepping down from the Climate change role, to avoid being having a boss to overseer him, but the presidency declined his position.
