Family to announce Shonekan’s burial soon, says son

The family of late former Head of Interim National Government, Chief Ernest Shonekan has disclosed that, the burial arrangements will be made public soon, as consultation towards the process is in top gear.

Penpushing reports that, first son of the deceased, Adeboye  Shonekan made this known on Wednesday while speaking with journalists shortly after he officially presented a letter to Alake of Egbaland,Oba Adedotun Gbadebo, announcing the demise of his father.

The bereaved son at the Ake palace in Abeokuta said as at the time of filing this report, meeting was ongoing by the family and relevant stakeholders to fashion out befitting burial ceremony for the late Nigerian leader.

Penpushing further reports that, he said his late father was his mentor and a man of integrity , who he aspire to emulate, adding that he would missed him, in view of the fact that he look up to him all time

‘My father passed away early yesterday, we are now going to go for consultations and we would carry his Royal Highness along, ones the picture is clear we shall make further announcement.He was my mentor, he was a man of integrity’, he said.

‘He was a decent man and he exemplified everything they call a through Christian, all I can do is just to aspire to be like him. I will miss him for all those things I said, he was my mentor, someone I look up to everyday, he just led by example, everything I do I used to consult him but he is not there anymore’, he added.

Penpushing also reports that, the monarch in his remarks after receiving the letter from the bereaved family said the entire Egba kingdom has lost a great son of the land, and disclosed that the palace joined in mourning the departure of Sonekan.

‘We lost great son of Egbaland. We lost great authority in company business, corporate governance. We join family in mourning departure of a great man. God used him to maintain peace in the country for 82 days.

The monarch stated that he prayed that God will replaced the deceased with another great egba son, adding that it was obvious that the late former Head of State will be remember for his patriotism.
