Ex-University of Lagos Vice-Chancellor, Oye Ibidapo-Obe burial begins in Ilesa
The final journey of former Vice Chancellor of University of Lagos (UNILAG), Prof Oye Ibidapo-Obe commenced on Monday with wake keep held at Cathedral Church of Holy Trinity, Omofe, Ilesa, Osun State.
Penpushing reports that the service of songs held under strict coronavirus protocols and guidelines started 5.00pm, with prayers and hymn titled, ’Jesus, Where’ev Thy People meet’, as well as Bible reading from Romans 8;31-39
The widow, Sola Ibidapo-Obe arrived the venue of the service alongside her children, as well as son-in-law, daughter-in-law and other members of the family for the service of songs which lasted for two hours
The service was conducted by number of clerics, as well as music rendition by Apostolic Faith Mission, in honour of the deceased, and choir of Holy Trinity Cathedral Church performing to also honour the late academic
Penpushing further reports Rev Olusola Akanbi in his sermon titled, ’Life is Short’, tell the congregation that they are all sojourners on earth, hence, the need to always be cautious that, at a point in time we shall return to the Creator.
The Cleric pointed out that, from records available since the demise of Ibidapo-Obe, it shows that, he lived a fulfilled life, and therefore called on all and sundry on need to do good while still on earth, as nobody know when death will come
Penpushing also reports that, Akanbi said the life is about vanity, explaining that, nobody come to the this earth with anything, and it should also be at the minds of individuals that, nobody will go back with anything.
The wake keep also afforded number of guests, as well as family members of the deceased the opportunity to talk about their relationship with him, while alive, as well as experiences gained from their contacts with the late Professor

Meanwhile, the final burial ceremony of Ididapo-Obe who died on Sunday evening of January 3, 2021 at age 71, is to take place on Tuesday, February 16, 2021 with a service at Holy Trinity Cathedral Church, Omofe, Ilesa.
