Enugu, Ebonyi states records new cases of coronavirus

The Enugu State Government has reported the confirmation of the fourth coronavirus case in the state, while out of the four cases two have been discharged after recovery from the virus

Penpushing reports that the Commissioner for Health, Obi Emmanuel Ikechukwu announced this in a statement Friday night, adding that the new case was a 39 year old who used to live and work in Lagos.

The commissioner explained that, the victim  recently travelled back to Enugu on the 22nd of April, took ill and reported to a mission Hospital in the state, and thereafter the hospital staff alerted the State coronavirus response team

Penpushing further reports that. Ikechukwu samples were taken on the 29th of April which have turned out to be positive on 1st May 2020, explaining that This new case is not a contact of the 3rd case.

The commissioner called for greater vigilance at the ports of entry, stressing, “We are now reporting cases that are not primary contacts of confirmed cases.

Penpushing also reports that, in a radio broadcast, Governor Umahi said that the patient was a 25 year old man identified as   Emeka Nwite who hails from Odoke in Ebonyi Local Government Area of the State.

The Governor disclosed that Emeka resides at Santana Area in Lagos and sells telephone accessories at Ojo in Lagos, adding that he was said to have boarded a vehicle from Lagos to Benin on Friday.

Penpushing reports that, Umahi said, the victim  on getting to Benin, boarded another vehicle to Asaba and thereafter from Asaba to Onitsha before getting to Enugu, explainig that he  was heading to Ogbala Ishieke from Enugu before he was apprehended by the taskforce.

The Governor said, the man was sent for laboratory test and the result came out positive adding that all the 4-close contacts tested negative but are currently on strict Isolation.

Penpushing further reports that, Umahi stated that the patient has also been taken to the Isolation center where he is being quarantined, adding that treatment has also commenced on him at the Centre.
