Electoral Commission declares Adamawa State Governorship inconclusive

The Independent National Electoral Commission(INEC), has declared the Governorship election in Adamawa State inconclusive, stating that the cancelled votes were more than the margin of victory between Ahmadu Fintiri of Peoples Democratic Party(PDP) and the runner-up, Aisha Dahiru of the All Progressives Congress(APC).

Penpushing reports that a new date will be fixed for re-run elections in areas where elections could not hold in the state, just as  final results tallied by the electoral body showed that Fintiri scored the highest votes with over 30,000 votes.

The incumbent Governor scored 421,524 votes and also won the election in 13 of Adamawa’s 21 local government areas,while  Dahiru, popularly called Binani recorded 390,275 votes and won in the remaining eight local government areas

Penpushing furtherreportsthat Binani, a serving senator, is popular in the state for her philanthropy, while the race to the Adamawa Government house was a closely contested one between the her and the sitting Governor
