Eight suspected criminals fatally injured during gun duel with police
The Niger State Police Command has shot and fatally wounded eight suspected criminals during a shootout with the bandits following the Inspector General of Police intelligence and operational units led joint raid operations in Kainji National Park Mine
Penpushing reports that a signal update message from the police said the team which comprises the local vigilante and hunters had earlier on February 26 and 27 arrested a suspect which led the team to another camp within the park, sharing common boundary with Kebbi state.
The signal added that on sighting members of the team the bandits opened fire and following a heavy gun duel which ensued between the bandits and the team, eight suspected armed bandits were shot and fatally wounded while fourteen were arrested with bullet wounds
Penpushing further reports that the identities of the suspects include; Bello Mamman (30) of Donga Ayuba village, Yahaya Hassan (20) of Rijau, Abbas Jibrin (45) of Kagara, Yari Lawali (27) of Benna village and Safiyanu Abubakar (30).
The other suspects are; Musa Garba (25), Usman Abubakar (30), Abubakar Yalki (30), Abdullahi Umar (40), Jibrin Mohammed (27), Adamu Shehu (28), Hassan Adamu(23) and Yakubu Umar(24)
Penpushing also reports that the updated said three members of the vigilante sustained injuries and were taken to hospital alongside the injured suspects, while exhibits recovered at the scene includes ; 10 AK49 rifles with the following breech numbers 13830, 56783, 20186, 13460892, 8444,179059, 00163, 2849,11351 and 05717 among others
The update further disclosed that,the suspects are currently giving police useful information that will lead to arrest of the fleeing other bandits, while monitoring and investigation has been intensified to round up more suspects
