Educational stakeholder, Tiwalade Akingbade tasks Nigerian government on digital education
An educational stakeholder, Tiwalade Akingbade has called on Nigerian Government to invest more in Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics, STEM education of the country, and equally charged parents and guardians to give their children qualitative and quantitative education.
Penpushing reports that Akingbade gave the charge at the 2024 graduation and prize giving ceremony of Great Standard Montessori Model School, Abeokuta, Ogun State Capital, emphasizing that in ensuring that students do not fall behind their peers in other countries, it was imperative that the government and stakeholders invest in digital education.
‘If we invest in our children today, we will get it tomorrow. Because the world is going digital, we cannot just stay stagnant and what is keeping all nations now is digital economy because when time comes, we may not see the crude oil as we see it now, we may not explore it like we do now’, he said.
‘But digital, IT, if we check the number of the most riches people most of them base on digital economy. “So, I’m passing this message to the state government including the federal government to invest more in technology to promote our educational system’, Akingbade stressed
Penpushing further reports that Akingbade who is the Chairman board of the school and 1st Assistant National Secretary of Road Transport Employers Association of Nigeria (RTEAN), declared that the future lies in digital economic unlike dwindling oil resources.
The Proprietress of the school, Nofisat Akingbade, in her remarks pointed out that the theme of the event, ” Unleashing potential” is a testament of the boundless capability that lies within the pupils, stressing that the college standard of excellence is to ensure the pupils get the right knowledge.
Penpushing also reports that in similar vein, an educationist Adeyemi Ajayeoba while speaking cautioned parents against putting pressure on their children to pursue specific careers, rather they should focus on supporting their desired interests and passions, as well as recognizing the fact that their children have their own unique talents and aspirations.
The guest at the ceremony equally warned that parents imposing their own desires on the children can lead to dissatisfaction and unfulfillment, which may destroy the children talents and passion to attain their greatness
‘Don’t destroy the future of your children, because some parents want their own desire to prevail. There are some children who want to be a teacher but most parents will tell them no I want to have a Doctor, I want an Army General in the home, discouraging that child from becoming what he or she desire in life. If your child has chosen the part of becoming a teacher, a lawyer or whatsoever career let us encourage them as parents’, she stated.
