ECONOMIC CRIMES COMMISSION FILES CORRUPTION CHARGES AGAINST BABACHIR LAWAL, AYO OKE
The spokesperson of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) said the charge sheet, dated January 30, stated that the accused persons were brought before a high court of the Federal Capital Territory for the alleged offence.
Penpushing also recalled that, Lawal was removed from office after he was indicted by a Senate committee which investigated the management of money meant to assist persons displaced by Boko Haram.
The former Secretary to the Federal Government was indicted for using his companies to get contracts worth millions of Naira without executing the contracts, and since he was booted out by President Muhammadu Buhari, in 2017 many Nigerians have called for his prosecution.
Penpushing further reports that, Vice President Prof Yemi Osinbajo last week disclosed that his boss, President Buhari had directed that charges be filed against the duo, while it is also on record that the embattled former federal government scribe has since his exit been a major campaigner for President Buhari’s re-election in his home Adamawa State.
