Drug law enforcement agency solicits medicine dealers’ support in fighting against drug abuse

Penpushing reports that Rabe gave the task on Tuesday at the capacity building workshop organised for members of the Association of Patent and Prioprietary  Medicine Dealers(ASSOPPMED) in collaboration with the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency(NDLEA) held in Abeokuta, the State Capital

“The importance of this gathering cannot be overstated. As frontline healthcare providers, you are often the first point of contact for many individuals  seeking medication. This place you in a unique and powerful position  to influence  the health and well-being of our communities”, Rabe stated.

Penpushing further reports that he emphasised that with this influence, comes the responsibility of members to ensure that the medications they provide are used safely and appropriately, hence, they should not contribute to the growing problem of drug abuse in the society, stressing that drug abuse is a challenge that affects everyone.

“Drug abuse is a challenge that affects everyone of us, destroying lives, tearing apart families, and threatening the very fabric of our communities. It is a battle that cannot  be fought by law enforcement alone, it requires the collective effort of every sector of society”, he said

“You, as patent medicine dealers, are key partners in this fight. Your vigilance, awareness, and adherence to ethical practices are crucial in preventing the misuse of medications and in safeguarding the public from the dangers of drug abuse. Today’s seminar is designed to equip you with the knowledge and tools you need to play your role effectively. Together let us work hand in hand to protect our communities, uphold the integrity of your profession, and ensure a safer, healthier Ogun State”, Rabe emphasized

Penpushing also reports that the President of the association, Olori Oluwatoyin Oyedele earlier in her welcome address said the seminar was organised by the body in collaboration with the drug law enforcement agency,stressing that it was another opportunity for members to benefit from pool of knowledge from the agency.

The President emphasized that the topic of the seminar, “Drug Abuse Preventive Education” is relevant to the association and the profession and called on participants to show committement towards the seminar, adding that it’s avenue to build knowledge in line with the best practice

“The aims and objectives of the association is to foster cordial relationship between the association and state government, especially the state ministry of health and all her agencies. And completely organise all patent and proprietary medicine dealers in the state into a strong bussiness association among many others”, Oloyede said
