Dream big towards developmental growth, Eddy Ademosu tasks Lions Club executive members
A frontline member of Lions Club, Nigeria Dr Eddy Ademosu has tasked the new leadership of the Lagos Egbeda Lions Club, District 404 B3, Nigeria to dream big towards positive developmental growth of the club.
Penpushing reports that Ademosu gave the task in his keynote address at the investiture of 25th President and Officers of Lagos Egbeda Lions Club, District 404 B3, Nigeria on Sunday 7th December 7, 2025 at Man event Centre, Ikeja, Lagos
The keynote speaker on the theme, ‘Revolutionizing Service: Embracing New Paradigms for Humanity’s Sake: Empowering Communities, Enriching Lives: The Lions Way’ said he was delighted to be part of the ceremony which ushered in a new generation of leadership who will carry forward a legacy of service that spans more than a century.
‘To the newly invested Lions’ President and Executives, I ask you to DIPS; meaning Dream Big. Let the vision of a world without blindness, hunger, or despair guide your projects’, Ademosu stated.
Penpushing further reports that Ademosu quoting late Nelson Mandela reminded the new executive that it is better to lead from behind and to put others in front, especially when they celebrate a victory
The keynote speaker explained that studies have revealed that this old paradigms of humanitarian service focused on: top-down approach, adding that International organizations and governments led efforts, often with limited local involvement
‘Relief-oriented: Focus on emergency response, rather than long-term development or sustainability. Paternalistic: Aid providers often dictated solutions, rather than empowering local communities. Sectoral silos: Separate efforts for health, education, and other areas, rather than integrated approaches. Short-term funding: Projects often lacked sustained funding, hindering lasting impact’
Penpushing also reports that Ademosu stated that some specific examples of old paradigms include: Food aid: Focus on importing food, rather than supporting local agriculture. Refugee camps: Long-term encampments, rather than community-based solutions. International experts*: Reliance on foreign experts, rather than building local capacity
‘These old paradigms have been criticized for creating dependency (Undermining local economies and self-sufficiency). Lacking accountability (Limited local ownership and oversight); Inefficient use of resources (Duplication of efforts and waste)’
Penpushing reports that he said there was need to embrace the new paradigms four way kits, stressing that digital revolution is a gift to every humanitarian, and therefore called on the club to harness technology to amplify impact
‘Our service must be as enduring as the Lions roar. This means embedding environmental stewardship into every project – planting trees, promoting clean water, and championing renewable energy. We cannot solve the climate crisis without addressing the social injustices that fuel it’.
