Windstorm kills six persons, destroys 600 building in Kano state

A windstorm has claimed lives of six persons , destroyed 600 buildings, also displaced number of residents  in five communities in Kano State, and this was confirmed by the  State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA)

Penpushing reports that, the Executive Secretary of the agency, Sale Jili,  who further confirmed the disaster, identified the affected communities as include: Gwale, Rimin  Gado, Gwarzo and Kibiya  adding that the agency was awaiting submission of a report from other local Government areas affected by the disaster.

The secretary explained that the agency as at the time of fling this report had deployed officials  to the affected areas for the conduct of damage assessment exercise, to enable it strengthen comprehensive data on the disaster.

“We have visited Kibiya and Rimingado and distributed relief materials to the sufferers as an interim tip to alleviate their pains and sufferings. The items distributed included food items, bags of cement, roofing sheets, mats, blankets and garb materials,” he stated.

Penpushing further reports that, Jili, however, warned communities in flood prone areas to deviate from dumping waste bins in water ways to prevent flooding.
