Deviant driver arrested for disobeying order banning articulated vehicles from bridges
A deviant truck driver was on Monday arrested by the Ogun State Traffic Compliance and Enforcement Agency (TRACE), for violating the order that articulated vehicles should not ply overhead bridges in the state.
Penpushing reports that, Governor Dapo Abiodun had earlier issued out the order, following petrol tanker fire which occurred last week on the overhead bridge Kuto in Abeokuta, where four persons were killed, and five others seriously injured.
The order was ignored 24 hours after pronouncement as a truck driver was on Wednesday sighted making use of the flyover, unhindered following absence of road officials within the vicinity, Presidential boulevard, the axis of the Tuesday crash
Penpushing further reports that, another driver was unlucky on Monday, when he was caught by the road officials, while passing through the bridge, and was subsequently arrested with the truck towed to the agency headquarters
The Governor it is recalled while speaking with journalists after his assessment of the truck fire incident, said the government is also considering looking at if the trucks plying through the state, may have restricted time of passage.
Penpushing reports that, Abiodun disclosed that he would soon call meeting of stakeholders to work out modalities on the proposal, in the interest of all stakeholders in the motoring activities and residents of the state.
