Daughter of former Deputy Governor Salimot Badru-Makanjuola set to launch book
The daughter of former Deputy Governor of Ogun State, Alhaja Salimot Badru-Makanjuola, Dr Mutiat Badru is set to launch her book, ‘Rekiya –Z’ which explores the themes of time and its fickleness, trauma, loss and the varying realities of Muslim Womanhood.
Penpushing reports that the official virtual presentation of the novel is scheduled to take place on Sunday, November 22 between 11.am-1pm, while the event will also be broadcast live on facebook.com/deenprogress.
The Special Guest of Honour is Ogun State Deputy Governor, Engr Noimot Salako-Oyedele, while Guest of Honour include; Prof Rasheed Aderinoye,Omooba Yemisi Shyllon and Mallam Abubakar Mustafa.
Penpushing further reports that, the book is a contemporary Muslim/ Islamic fiction, set in Nigeria, that explores a vast range of themes including, family, friendship, mental health, family dynamics, sexual abuse, repentance, healing and love.
The 18 chapters book in the synopsis look at how far does friendship stretch, adding that when Rekiya and Zaynunah met as teenagers, neither had any inkling this would be the start of a lifelong friendship.
‘That the bond they formed as friends would see them through the best and worst of times. An unlikely alliance, Rekiya is the unacknowledged daughter of one of the richest men in the country, while Zaynunah is the Ibadan raised Hijabi from a more modest background’.
