JOURNALISTS WANTS UPGRADE OF IBADAN AIRPORT TO INTERNATIONAL STANDARD

The union in the communique signed by its Secretary Bola Ogunlayi , also emphasized the importance  to increase the facility to a world class and standard.

The Media practitioners also frowned at the position of the Government on what it described as non-challance attitude towards the issue of the proposed N30, 000 minimum wage for the workers.

Penpushing further reports that, the union called on the Government to consider the plight of the workers by agreeing to the proposed N30, 000 minimum wages saying, it is not comparable to what obtains in other climes.

The union commended Oyo State Government on the approval of outstanding salary arrears to its work force and called on the Government to effect immediate payment of such to all categories of workers including, those working at the State owned tertiary institutions.

The communiqué, however, charged journalists to always be alive to their responsibilities in the course of discharging their duties, and also noted that there is need for  them to be security conscious at all time with an appeal to the  public  on need to cooperate with media practitioners  and give them necessary support if the needs arises
