COMMUNITY AND SOCIAL DEVELOPMENT PROJECTS, SOLUTION TO OUR SUFFERING- OYO RURAL RESIDENTS

Community and Social Development Project (CSDP) is a scaled up of the pilot Community-based Poverty Reduction Project (CPRP) and Local Empowerment and Environmental Management Project (LEEMP).

Penpushing further reports that, the projects  were  assisted by the World Bank and co-financed by the Federal Government and the participating states The first assessment tour was to Baptist Grammar School, Ajawa, Ogo-Oluwa Local Government, in Oyo State where an Examination Hall was built for the school.

The Secretary of the Community Project Management Committee Ajawa, Ogo-Oluwa Local Government, Pastor Thomas Oluwole Adunola said the intervention of the Development has eased a lot of their stress in the community in terms of the academics welfare of their children.

“The examination hall our students was using before was an eye sore, and it was more or less of a death trap to our students, we have tried all our best to resolve this issue to no avail and luckily, CSDP just came to our aids and relieved us of this challenges;, he said.

“Several efforts have been made to resolve the problems but unfortunately all these efforts were fruitless but with the help of CSDP, our children can now sit down comfortably and write their examinations and this has also enhance their mental capability as a result of the conducive environment’.

He added that the Development had also built a Science laboratory for them at Community Grammar School, to allow their students to have access to quality and practically science learning and hopefully, a motorized bore hole will also be giving to them after the completion of these two projects.

The Vice Principal Academics of Baptist Grammar School, Ajawa, Ogo Oluwa Local Government, . Moronkola Simeon Olaiwola said that WAEC has been denying their students to write their exam in the school as a result of inadequate examination hall.

“We used to dispatch our students to a neighbouring schools to sit for their WAEC exam, we were told unless we have a good examination hall, our students will not be allow to do their WAEC examination here in this school because of the bad condition of our exam hall, but with the intervention of CSDP by building this exam hall for us, our students were able to write last year WAEC exam, and it all went successfully without any problem.

“This structure has also helped us to curb the issue of examination malpractices because our students had enough space within the exam hall, last year, 84 SS3 candidates sat for the exam, while 86 JSS3 candidates also wrote their exam here and their result were very impressive, all this wouldn’t have been possible if not for the conducive environment and the examination hall.

Penpushing correspondent also visited Community High School, Oosu, Ayigbiri where a Block of Science Laboratory was built for the school. The Chairman of CPMC, Prince Mudashiru Oyewole   disclosed that the school was established five years ago with three classrooms, and since then, they have been proposing for additional classrooms before Community and Social Development Project ( CSDP) later came to their aids.

“Apart from this science laboratory, a motorised bore hole project was constructed for us and there is also an ongoing hall project going on, all these projects have unites our people, these projects have also helped our children in their academic performance and some neighboring communities, such as Aserawo, Baale Oba, Ikolo, Oke Awon, Oosun-Inu and Oosu-Ita has benefited from all these projects’.

The Olosu of Oosu town , Oba Adetunji, Adeniyi, noted that the project has brought a lot of development to the town, adding that God has used  the Governor  Abiola Ajimobi to uplift the school and there is now advancement in the academic performance of the students.

Penpushing correspondent also visited the Health Center built at Iresa-Pupa community, Surulere South Local Council Development Authority (LCDA) which consist of six beds, a consulting room, pharmacy, laboratory, toilet, record room and antenatal clinic, as well as  a Police Station built for Iresa-pupa community.

Other places  by Penpushing correspondent i include a Community Health Center, and a Motorised Borehole at Ilupeju, Oke-Isuwin, Sooro, Local Council Development Area( LCDA), Oyo .

 The Community Health Officer Mrs  Florence Morakinyo, said that before the health center was built, they were making use of a single shop which consist of one bench, one table and one plastic chair for the community health center, and there was no light, no water and also there was no facilities to treat the patients.

Penpushing reports that, Morakinyo said that the intervention of Community and Social Development Project (CSDP) now  make access to medical facilities easier for the people, adding that there is also an increment in patronage compare to where they are before.

Penpushing correspondent was also at Elegbo Community, Atiba Local Government, Sooro Local Council Development Area (LCDA) and reports that Electric Transformer, a Motorised Borehole, and a Bridge were made available constructed for the community by Community and Social Development Project.

Speaking to Penpushing, Honorable Nureen Alayande  said that it has been a while they had been having issue of light in the community, explaining  that the community only has one transformer as big as the community is.

He pointed out that and this has been creating a lot of problems for them, but with the help of the Community and Social Development Project( CSDP), their light is now stable and people are now enjoying it for both their commercial and personal use.

Penpushing also reports that, Alayande added that the projects have really helped them because that was the only way that join the community together, stating that the constructed  bridge has also made the passage of vehicles and people easier.

“Motorised borehole was also giving to us, it is very useful for us, it has definitely met the need of  our people at the point of their needs, it has relief their burden’, he emphasised.
