Committee reels out 8-day burial activities for Iyalode Alaba Lawson

The burial committee for Iyalode of Yorubaland, Iyalode Alaba Oluwaseun Lawson on Monday released burial activities which is designed as a 8-day ceremony, kick-starting from December 1 and terminate on December 8, 2023

Penpushing reports that Chairman, Central Planning Committee, Chief Sanya Abiola rolled out the programme of activities at a press conference held at the private residence of the deceased located in Quarry Road, Abeokuta, Ogun State Capital.

The Chairman accompanied by other members of the committee disclosed that the first six days (Friday December 1 to Wednesday December 6, 2023) have been dedicated to various groups, associations and professional bodies among others who have shown interest in celebrating the deceased

Penpushing further reports that Abiola added that on Friday December 1, 2023, NACCIMA Business Women Group (NAWORG) will hold a special service in her honour at the NACCIMA office, GRA Ikeja, Lagos

The Chairman explained that in similar vein, on Monday, December 4, the ECOWAS Federation of Business Women Entrepreneurs (ECOWAS-FEBWE) will hold a note of tributes in her honour at the Radisson Blu Hotel, GRA Ikeja, Lagos.

Penpushing also reports that he stated that on Tuesday, December 5, 2023 the African Church, Nigeria will hold a Service of Songs in her honour at the Cathedral of St. James African Church, Idi-Ape, Abeokuta.

The committee boss disclosed that Wednesday, December 6,  2023 will be the turn of the Association of Egba Traders (Egba Lawa), Oke Ona Council of Chiefs, Egba Christian Chiefs and the Lawson Group of Schools will hold different sessions in  honour of the late 72 year-old woman.

“On Friday, December 1, 2023, NACCIMA Business Women Group (NAWORG) will hold a special service in her honour at the NACCIMA office, GRA Ikeja, Lagos. Penpushing reports that the central planning committee said the final burial programme is scheduled to begin on Thursday, December 7, 2023 with a Christian Wake and Nite of Tributes at the Marquee Events Centre, Olusegun Obasanjo Presidential Library (OOPL), Abeokuta by 4pm”

The chairman said the burial service is scheduled to hold December 8, 2023 at the Cathedral of St. James African Church, Idi-Ape, Abeokuta., and thereafter interment which is designed strictly for the family of the deceased to participate

Penpushing further reports that it is recalled that Lawson an elder stateswoman, foremost educationist, business mogul, entrepreneur, female activist, community leader, a church icon and first female National President of Nigeria Association of Chambers of Commerce, Industry, Mines and Agriculture (NACCIMA) died on October, 28, 2023 in her private residence, Abeokuta

The Chairman noted that late Iyalode was a household name within and outside the country, with her indelible legacies cutting across all sectors, adding that till she breathed her last she was the Matron of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) Ogun State council, as well as the Matron of the National Association of Women Journalists (NAWOJ) South West zone.

Penpushing also reports that other central planning committee include Dimeji Kayode-Adedeji (Head Media), Tayo Akintayo, Sesan Bankole, Dara Adebimpe Alhaji  Rahman  Maku, Tola Omole Akin Jiboku members of the media, Ayo Olusanya is to head Ceremonial /Entertainment, as well as Olalekan Jiboku as Head Security, while Tunji Akintayo also heads Protocol/Logistics.

Meanwhile, the membership list include Akinola Lawson, Babalola Lawson, Oreoluwa Obey-Fabiyi, Taiwo Jiboku, Otunba Babs Adesanya and Ibrahim Bada
