Coalition of Yoruba groups calls for amendment of 1999 constitution
The Coalition of leadership of Yoruba organizations have called and insisted for amendment to the 1999 constitution to inculcate regional autonomy, and vehemently kicked against nepotism and incessant killings by herdsmen.
Penpushing reports that, these were parts of ten points charter of demands in a position paper presented after the meeting, and similarly frowned at corruption and economic sabotage being perpetrated by some elements.
The statement signed by Otunba Deji Osinbogun on behalf of the Coalition of Yoruba Organisations requested for accountability from all elected/appointed government officials in Yorubaland, as well as call for state and local government police
‘We say no to corruption and economic sabotage, no to nepotism but merit, no to poverty but gainful employment, no to banditry, kidnapping, terrorism and herdsmen killing in yorubaland’, the organisation declared
‘We say yes to restructuring, yes to accountability from all elected/appointed government officials in Yorubaland, yes to state and local government police, yes to accountability on every agriculture fund expended by the federal, state and local government, and amendment to the 1999 constitution to inculcate regional autonomy’, the group emphasised .
Penpushing further reports that, the coalition in the communique equally demanded for a honest and 3rd party verified census of each of the villages, towns and cities of the country, stressing that it is high time for new Nigeria
